A Mesccia

In th 17th century, rum from the Caribbean was traded in Monaco by sailors in exchange for the region's oranges and lemons. The Monegasques would then traditionally blend the rum with vermouth and ouzo, giving birth to a mesccia, a drink that became a cherished part of the Principality's cultural heritage. To revive this legendary tradition, we decided to create a 21 st-century version. Instead of adding vermouth to the rum, we filled genuine ex-vermouth casks with rum. This is how A Mesccia was born.
